We explored the use of automated SMS surveys, which were sent from a tool developed by BSSNY, to collect spine outcome data. Patients who received the SMS surveys had double the response rate (52%), and the data collection time was reduced by 67%, when compared to patients receiving traditional in-office paper surveys.
