MRI of a brain aneurysm

Our goal is to identify the type of headache and underlying causes and to treat or help in managing the pain. At BSSNY, you’ll find that effective management also means we provide compassionate care. We listen to and address all of your concerns: body, mind, and spirit, so you can feel headache relief and return to a normal, active life.

We treat a variety of different headaches, including:

Cluster headaches are the most severe type of primary headache, causing intense pain in and around the eye that may last for several hours.

Migraine headaches can cause intense throbbing pain and are typically accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and light sensitivity.

Occipital neuralgia or tension headaches are generally characterized by mild to moderate pain and tightness in the head or neck area.

Secondary headaches typically result from outside factors such as:

  • Stress
  • Acute sinusitis
  • Fever
  • Overuse of pain medication
  • Dehydration
  • Stroke
  • Head injury
  • Cerebrovascular condition
  • Nerve disorder
  • Brain tumor
